Lake Havasu City

At the end of March, we decided to brave an almost 4 hour flight + a 2 1/2 hour drive with both of the girls to head out to Lake Havasu City, AZ to visit Scott's parents. We were a little nervous about the flight, but thankfully the girls did pretty well. It was a lot of work to keep them entertained, but we didn't have any major meltdowns on the way, so I would consider that a success.

Checking email on the plane!

The weather was beautiful the week we were there and we didn't have a lot on the agenda, so we just spent as much time as possible at the parks and near the water.

We took Carys on her first hike and she loved it. We explained we would be walking "off-road" and since Daddy usually takes her "off-road" on their bike rides, she knew just what this meant.

Harper obviously didn't mind coming along. She snoozed most of the time.

The trail lead to a cactus garden and Carys had fun looking at all the different types. She called this big guy a bunny cactus because "look, it has ears just like a bunny!" Smart girl.

And then we found some actual bunny cactus-es? or cacti, or whatever.

And this little guy was fun to watch.

Carys did great walking with us, but right around the last 1/4 mile she got a little tired. So I carried her for awhile and then Grandma took a turn.

After our hike, we had a picnic on Windsor Beach. It was a beautiful spot. And I love this picture of her walking with Grandpa. These two are great buddies!

Harper got to spend a lot more quality time with Dad on this trip and she did not mind this one bit!

After heading home for afternoon naps, we took another walk along the river and stopped to get some ice cream. Harper was always so happy to be outside checking everything out, she was just an angel the whole trip.

Making a wish!

Chilling back home on the patio.

Love my sweet girl.

Of course, we took a lot more pictures, so I'll post the rest from our trip soon!

Happy Friday!

He is Risen Indeed!

Happy Easter!

We had a great day celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior. I am so thankful that we serve a risen King and that through Him we can have eternal life. (John 3:16) I grew up knowing this truth, but I feel like each year the reminder of Jesus's death on the cross and His resurrection becomes more and more meaningful to me and I'm excited to share this faith with our girls as they get older.

This year, it was fun to begin to teach Carys the resurrection story, hunt for some eggs, and also pay a little visit to the Easter bunny. I was disappointed though that we didn't get a family picture today. It takes everything we have to get to church on time these days and even then we usually squeak in just in time! So, we didn't get any pictures this morning when we all looked nice, but all that really matters is that we had a fun day together!

We started our Easter activities on Friday. Carys has been asking if it's Easter yet, for awhile now, so she was really excited when I told her we would see the Easter bunny at the library. Our library has a great story time program, and every year for Easter they do an egg hunt and we can meet the Easter bunny. Carys loves it and I love not having to wait in line to pay for bunny pictures at the mall!

Before we left I took a couple pics of this sweetie.  She is so funny right now and always smiling!

Carys loved finding eggs and was MUCH faster this year than last year!

After hunting for eggs we waited in line to see the Easter bunny. Carys was excited, so I wasn't worried about her, but I was a little nervous about Harper's reaction.

H: "So what's going on?"

H: "Carys, what's this giant fuzzy thing?"

H: "The Easter...what??"

H: "Oh, he's not so bad."

I thought for sure that Harper would lose it after she looked up at the bunny, but she surprised me and it was no big deal!

After our egg hunt at the library, Carys knew just what to do when she woke up this morning.  After reading her note from the Bunny, she immediately got to work searching for eggs.

First Egg!

C: "Hey, there's jellybeans in here!"

I was feeling a little bad that we didn't get Harper an Easter basket this year. Scott was telling me it wasn't a big deal, but I felt even worse when I remembered that we got Carys one when she was Harper's age. Scott gently reminded me that that was only because I "was a freak about that stuff" back then. Thanks, sweetie!
Anyway, it was so cute this morning when Carys (in the middle of finding her eggs) asked, "Hey, can I give one to Harper?" Her sister definitely appreciated the thought!

After church, we came home and Carys was ready to dye her eggs. I know most people dye their eggs before Easter, but hey - whatever works!

Harper was happy to watch!

Carys did pretty good. With Dad's coaching there were only a couple big splashes and only one egg that got away before it could be colored.

We also spent time outside with some confetti eggs.

And?.....They were definitely a hit!  Sorry, couldn't resist!

We also have some great friends that outgrew their playstructure and decided to pass it along to us. We picked it up this weekend and Carys loves it!
Thanks Aunt Jenn, Uncle Mike, Addison, Alyssa, Kendelle and Trevor!  We love you!!!

Even Daddy and Harper got to hang out!

We had a great day spending time together. Hope you had a Happy Easter!

And may you have peace knowing that, He is Risen, He is Risen indeed!
